Kona's underwater structure is dominated by lava tubes, pinnacles, archways, and dramatic dropoffs, creating a myriad of habitats for underwater flora and fauna. As one would expect, most of these homes are occupied.

The diversity of the underwater life in Hawaii is amazing!

The sea life ranges from a multitude of Moray eels, shrimp, nudibranchs, corals, the occasional Manta or Eagle ray, small sponges, crabs, and lobster, to a staggering display of tropical fish.

This array varies with the changing topography.

With open eyes, the visiting diver will be amazed at the change in creatures as he or she moves from the open reef to arches to the darker lava tubes.

If you are willing to try a night dive, the astounding change in sea life will reveal still another remarkable world.

Let us introduce you to just a few of the inhabitants of the Kona Coast.
